writing again
getting the phlegm out
i finished my cup of water
there is no battery left uncharged
there is actually a pen on the table
and no excuse not to write
so here i am
apparently Chinese medicine has a remedy for getting the phlegm out
magnolia is the key ingredient
so i am trying to channel magnolias right now
and thinking of all of the pages like petals upon the ground
that have stagnated in the damp soil of my thoughts
waiting to be hung out to dry
so here i am
cringing-ly aware that what comes of this will be at first
a heap of petals past their bloom laid across the ground
but luckily i also know that compost is good
and moving energy stimulates life and growth
and if i start now
there will be at some point a clearing
and a deep breath
and i will be here
relieved to arrive back at my own feet
now i catch myself hoping for relief
and laugh,
because this process is a continual churning
and remaking and becoming
and the movement of that is fresh
and it is the freshness of that which creates relief
so the relief itself is freedom from stagnation
and these joyful skips of ink across the page
who were very tired of being caged up
might be a little out of shape
but nonetheless grateful for the legs to roam
